Kingsbury Parish Council

Welcome to our website which we hope you will find full of useful, local information.  Please contact the clerk on the e-mail address below if you have any comments/suggestions or items that you want to see on the website or raise with us.

Kingsbury Parish Council first met in January 1895 and at that time also comprised the neighbouring area of Dosthill. Today only a small part of Dosthill remains within the civil parish which now consists of the villages of Kingsbury, Hurley, Wood End, and Piccadilly, along with smaller settlements including Bodymoor Heath, Cliff and Whateley.

In 1972 the Parish Council built Kingsbury swimming pool and it is believed we are the only parish council in the country ever to have done so.

Nowadays the Parish Council is responsible for providing litter bins, dog waste bins, winter grit bins, benches (including the world war memorial benches in each of the villages), and for providing and maintaining some local bus shelters. The Council is a statutory consultee on planning applications within the Parish and manages Kingsbury’s Parish Recreation Ground and the play equipment and outdoor adult exercise equipment located there. Parish Councillors are also the custodian trustees of Hurley Village Hall and nominate representatives to the local Stanyer’s Charity, Pear Tree and Hurley surgeries Patient Participation Group and HS2 Special Management Zone.

The Parish Council operates a grant scheme giving support to local voluntary groups.
